    Responsibilities

     

    Responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems, software and related infrastructure. Participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure and ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values.

    Activities include the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy - research and development within the project life-cycle, technical analysis and design support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out the solutions.

    Participation on projects is focused on smoothing the transition of projects from development staff to production staff by performing operations activities within the project life-cycle.

     

    • Participates in day-to-day operations of the ODH cloud based environment by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and repair. Ensures that records of system downtime and equipment inventory are properly maintained. Applies revisions to host system firmware and software. Works with vendors to assist support activities.
    • As a member of Devops team works to develop and maintain the system configuration and installation procedures, contributes to and maintains system standards.
    • Performs troubleshooting often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations.
    • Installs, modifies and maintains systems and utility software on server computer systems. Provides server support related to other software. Works closely with the Development and Operations teams to ensure they work with reliable infrastructure.
    • Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical computer resources. Creates and updates necessary documentation.
    • Participates in automation efforts related to daily monitoring, update, backup and restoration of the infrastructure components, operating systems and applications.
    • As a member of DevOps team works to provide tools, automate and document procedures for Operations, Customer Support and Product Development staff to assist with their work.
    • Stays current with technological developments in systems administration, cloud technology as well as in Devops toolchain and recommends ways for ODH to take advantage of new technologies.

    Qualifications

     

    The ideal candidate will have experience working in DevOps team with a focus on the System Administration and Configuration management, closely familiar with virtualization, containerization and other cloud technologies and service providers such as AWS. Other Qualifications include:

    • BS/BA degree in Information Technology, Computer Science
    • Minimum of 5 years functional experience with systems administration (RHEL, DEBIAN)
    • Experience with Configuration Management systems (Ansible), Container technologies (Docker),Security technologies (file system encryption, PGP), orchestration platforms (Rancher, Kubernetes)
